Two people have been killed in a nightclub shooting in the German City of Constance.

According to police report, a man opened fire at about 1:30am on Sunday, at the Grey Club on Max-Stromeyer-Strasse, killing one person and injuring three others.

The gunman was shot and injured by the police and later died in the hospital.

Others were able to save themselves by fleeing outside or going into hiding.

One police officer was also wounded in the exchange of fire.

Meanwhile, the special commando forces and a police helicopter had been deployed in the city, as it was not yet known if the suspect had accomplices.
The motive for the shooting is not immediately clear.
