Gov. Emmanuel Visits Akwa-Ibom PDP SecretariatThe Akwa Ibom State governor, Udom Emmanuel has challenged the leadership of  the State House of Assembly and its Cross River State counterpart to find a permanent solution to incessant boundary crisis between border communities in the two sister states.

Gov. Emmanuel gave the charge when he addressed the leadership of the two House of Assemblies shortly after his breakfast meeting with them at Government House, Uyo.

He acknowledged the agelong cordial relationship between the two states and wondered why people of the same ancestry would resort to the destruction of their brothers and sisters because of boundary issues.

Describing the coming together of the two House of Assemblies as a demonstration of brotherhood, Gov Emmanuel is optimistic that this will trigger more positive developments between the two states.

He assured that he will continue to work with his Cross River State counterpart to ensure permanent peace between the two states.

Earlier, the Speaker of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Barr Onofiok Luke said they were in Government House to officially invite the governor to events marking the 25th anniversary of the the state legislature,and to provide an opportunity for the leadership of the Cross River State House of Assembly to meet with Governor Emmanuel.

He restated the commitment of the legislature to work in harmony with other arms of government for the benefit of the people.

While the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly, Barr John Lebo who is also the chairman of PDP Speakers Forum in Nigeria described the legislature as the architect of democracy with the critical responsibility of formulating an agenda for the future.

He expressed confidence in the present legislature to live up to expectations.

He also said he and his colleagues were in Uyo to join their counterparts in Akwa Ibom in the celebration of the 25th anniversary of the state legislature.
