The Commissioner for Police in Edo state, Mr Johnson Kokumo has restated his position on zero tolerance for incivility on the part of police officers under his watch.

Kokumo stated this at the Command’s Headquarters in Benin, the state capital, while reacting to an allegation of assault on two officials of the State’s Traffic Management Agency by officers serving under his command.

“I am just hearing about the matter for the first time today, and have just received a formal complaint from the Secretary to the State Government.

“I am subjecting the matter to an investigation, so the Deputy Commissioner, State Criminal Investigation Department is to commence investigations immediately,” he said.

A police officer, Joseph Sunday was alleged to have attacked two officers of the state’s traffic agency – Lucky Emiuno and Balogun Franklin.

The duo were said to be carrying out their duties along Sapele road on Wednesday, 15 November 2017 when the ugly incident reportedly happened.

The police boss had while reiterating his commitment of not condoning any form of indiscipline among officers, said culprits caught would be made to bear the full consequences of their action.

He added, “Edo State police command under my leadership will not tolerate any act of incivility to members of the public. The command under my leadership will not tolerate any form of recklessness from the police.”

He stated also that the police have a cordial relationship with other relevant agencies in maintaining law and order.
