The Director General of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Mustapha Maihaja, has said that rescue operations at the Jabi area four-storey building collapse in Abuja.

Following the building collapse, the DG revealed one person died from the incident while another is in critical condition, with five others alive but with various degrees of injury.

In reaction to the building collapse that occurred on Friday in the Jabi district of the nation’s capital, Acting President, Yemi Osinbajo, promptly visited the site, instructing that rescue efforts continue until all trapped bodies in the rubble are recovered dead or alive, as he described the incident as unfortunate, prompting all relevant public agencies to be on standby to ensure a fruitful rescue operations.

He also commiserated with the families of the victims affected by the incident.

In the aftermath of the gruesome incident, There are reports by some of the site officials that proper integrity test was not done before construction continued after the building had been abandoned for many years.
