The Supreme Court has affirmed the election of  Dapo Abiodun of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as Governor of Ogun State.

The Apex Court said on Wednesday that the applicant, Adekunle Akinlade of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), failed to prove his allegation of substantial non-compliance and irregularities in the election.

In a judgement read by Justice Dattijo Mohammed, the court ruled that, “There is a failure to establish the substance of the alleged non-compliance.”

Mr Akinlade had earlier approached the Apex Court to challenge the decision of the court of appeal which had dismissed his petition against Abiodun’s election on November 11.
