PDP Condoles With APC Over Death Of Akwa Ibom State Chairman
Akwa Ibom State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commiserated with the All Progressives Congress, (APC) over the sudden demise of the state chairman, Dr. Ini Okopido.
In a Statement captioned “Ini Okopido’s demise: We share your pain,” signed by its publicity Secretary in the State, Borono Bassey, the party described Okopido’s death as saddening and unfortunate.
Regretting that the late APC Chairman would be dearly missed, the statement noted that he was actively involved in deepening the conversations about democracy in the state.
The PDP prayed to God to give the immediate family of the deceased and the APC family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
“The Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State deeply condoles the All Progressives Congress (APC) family on the saddening and unfortunate passing of their State chairman, Obong Ini Okopido.”
“Obong Okopido by the virtue of his position and actions as the Akwa Ibom State Chairman of the APC had given himself to the patriotic task of deepening the conversations about democracy in our dear state.
“We also commiserate with members of the deceased family whom the late State Chairman has left behind.
“We pray with a fervency that the APC family and the members of the immediate family of the deceased will find the fortitude to bear the loss and strength to carry on in this tragic moment. Please do accept our deepest condolences”, the statement added.
The state APC on Thursday confirmed the death of Dr. Ini Okopido.
In a statement released by the party, Dr. Okopido died after a brief illness.
The Deputy State Chairman, Dr. Ita Udosen, who spoke on behalf of the party described the death as painful to the APC family and the country as a whole.
He said that the party is grieved and mourns with the wife, children, and family of the deceased.
