The kidnapped District Head of Gatawa in the Sabon Birni Local Government Area of Sokoto State, Isa Muhammad Bawa, has reportedly died in captivity.
The lawmaker representing Sabon Birni North in the state House of Assembly, Almustapha Boza, confirmed the tragic news to our correspondent.
Boza said the team sent to deliver a ransom demanded by the bandits met the monarch’s corpse.
The lawmaker told our correspondent on Wednesday night that the team came back with his son while the district head was already buried before they got there.
Efforts to speak with a spokesman for the Nigeria Police Force in the state, ASP Ahmed Rufai, were not successful at the time of filling this report.
