Media personality and entrepreneur, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, has reflected on her career trajectory and what drives her entrepreneurial ventures.

The entrepreneur, better known as Gbemi O-O, was a guest on Friday’s edition of The Morning Brief, a flagship programme on Channels Television.

During the show, Gbemi O-O recalled her early days in broadcasting, beginning with a stint at the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), before she transitioned to radio – a move that would later define her as a prominent voice in Nigeria’s media landscape.

She revealed her motivation to diversify her income streams, driven by the practical need to make ends meet. This decision saw her co-found a film production company, whose projects she proudly noted have gained traction on the international stage.

“I’m just trying to do as much as I can while I’m still here,” she said, attributing much of her inspiration to her late friend Tosin Bucknor – a multi-talented figure known for her work as an actor, lawyer, writer, on-air personality, and entrepreneur.

On how she manages her family and career, the proud mother to a four-year-old daughter, says she believes in limitless potential.

“There is nothing you cannot do; you just have to apply yourself,” she said.

She also narrated her foray into the fashion industry, revealing that she invested every penny she had into launching her shoe brand in Oniru, Lagos, back in 2014.

In a light-hearted moment during the interview, Gbemi-O fulfilled a long-standing dream by reading a news bulletin live on air – a nod to her earlier aspirations of becoming a newscaster on Channels Television.
