A lawyer, Inibehe Effiong, has accused the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF), Lateef Fagbemi, of insincerity with the supposed autonomy granted local governments (LGs) in Nigeria.

Effiong was a guest on Channels Television’s The Morning Brief programme on Monday.

According to him, with the reported seizure of LG funds in Osun State by the Federal Government and the unfolding drama surrounding the caretaker committees in place in Rivers State, true LG autonomy seems an illusion.
