Dung Appointed As Lagos New Special Fraud Unit CP

CP Dung, who hails from Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State, officially took charge on Monday (August 4, 2025), becoming the 32nd officer to head the Unit.

The Police Special Fraud Unit (PSFU), Ikoyi-Lagos, has announced the assumption of CP Rose Dung as its new Commissioner of Police, following the promotion of her predecessor, AIG Okunade Nurat. 

CP Dung, who hails from Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State, officially took charge on Monday (August 4, 2025), becoming the 32nd officer to head the Unit.

Her appointment was confirmed in a statement signed by the Unit’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Ovie Kenneth Ewhubare.

A seasoned law enforcement officer with over three decades of service, CP Dung joined the Nigeria Police Force on May 18, 1992, as a Cadet Assistant Superintendent of Police.

After her training at the Nigeria Police Academy Annexe, Kaduna, she began her career with the Abia State Police Command, completing her one-year mandatory attachment.

She has since served in various strategic capacities, including as Divisional Police Officer, Agbara Division in Ogun State; Commandant at the Police Training School, Iperu; Assistant Commissioner of Police (Admin) in Ondo State; and Deputy Commissioner of Police (Admin) in Bauchi State.

Before her current posting, CP Dung was the Commissioner of Police in charge of Welfare at the Nigeria Police Force Headquarters, Abuja.

With a Bachelor of Science degree in Sociology from the then Bendel State University, Ekpoma (now Ambrose Alli University), CP Dung is also a product of several professional development programs.

She is an alumna of the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), and the Police Staff College Jos, where she completed the Strategic Leadership and Command Course.

She has also undergone training on the AFIX Tracker Automated Fingerprint and Palm-Print System, as well as regional courses on money laundering and financial crimes.

Her professional affiliations include membership in the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP) and the International Association of Women Police (IAWP).

In her remarks, CP Dung thanked the Inspector General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, for entrusting her with the responsibility of leading the PSFU and promised to uphold professionalism and the rule of law in the Unit’s operations.

She also appealed to members of the public and relevant stakeholders to continue supporting the work of the PSFU in its mission to tackle fraud and financial crimes in Nigeria.
