Hilda Baci Earns Third Guinness World Record Title

Her latest recognition follows her September 2025 cookout in Lagos, where she prepared 8,780 kilograms of jollof rice, the largest quantity of the dish ever made.

Nigerian celebrity chef Hilda Baci has become a three-time Guinness World Record holder after her September 2025 achievement was confirmed to have earned her an additional global title.

Baci announced on Tuesday that her record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice also qualified as the largest serving of rice overall, bringing her total Guinness World Records to three.

She shared the update on Instagram, where she also amended her bio to read “Chef X3 Guinness World Record Holder”.

“Woke up a three-time Guinness World Records holder and I’m still trying to wrap my head around it. What a way to step into 2026,” she wrote.

According to an email from Guinness World Records, signed by Andrew Fanning, Head of Client Partnering at the Records Creative Team, the overlap between the two record categories meant Baci had broken both titles during the same attempt.

“Congratulations, you are Officially Amazing (again)! It has come to our attention when comparing record guidelines of the two record titles, that when you and your team attempted and achieved ‘Largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice,’ you also achieved the record title of ‘Largest serving of rice,’” Fanning wrote.

Reacting to the confirmation, Baci said the discovery came as a surprise months after the initial announcement.

“This morning, I was just doing my usual routine, casually scrolling through my emails, when I saw the message come in.

“I was shocked and happy at the same time, completely caught off guard. Five months after the initial record announcement, I was just finding out that there was more,” she said.

The 29-year-old chef explained that what she believed to be a single record had turned into two records achieved on the same day.

“When I broke the Guinness World Record for the largest serving of Nigerian-style jollof rice, I thought that was it. What I didn’t know, until now, is that on that same day, we had also broken the record for the largest serving of rice overall,” Baci said.

Her latest recognition follows her September 2025 cookout in Lagos, where she prepared 8,780 kilograms of jollof rice, the largest quantity of the dish ever made.

That feat marked her second Guinness World Record, coming more than two years after the Akwa Ibom-born set her first in May 2023 for completing a 93-hour, 11-minute cooking marathon.

Baci credited her team for the achievement, singling out her collaborator Oreoluwa Atinmo for her role in the project.

“This journey, this vision, and this record would not have been possible without her. From idea to execution, side by side, fully aligned,” she said.
