Governor Caleb Mutfwang of Plateau State has commended President Bola Tinubu for what he described as a clearer and more decisive approach to tackling insecurity, saying security agencies are now beginning to confront enemies of the state more aggressively.

Speaking during a thanksgiving service marking his third year in office at the COCIN Headquarters in Jos, Mutfwang said the security situation in Plateau remains complex because of the relationship between politics and security operations.

He, however, expressed confidence that the Federal Government’s current approach is producing positive results.

“The security challenge is complex because there is a direct relationship between the political atmosphere and what we do on the ground.

“One thing I thank God for is that the body language of the Commander-in-Chief is becoming clearer. Before now, many of the security operatives were operating as if they were a peacekeeping force, but today I see a change.

“They are beginning to know that the enemies of the state who threaten the sovereignty of our country must be confronted,” the governor said.

Mutfwang added, “I want to thank Mr President for that clear wisdom that he is bringing into the security space. We have recorded many deaths that have pained us, but against all odds, God has continued to move us on,” he added.

The governor called on citizens to be more vigilant and responsive to intelligence, noting that some attacks could have been prevented through timely information sharing.

“When the pain of the Plateau man pains you, you will become very sensitive to information around you.

“Many attacks that we had were preventable if only we were sensitive. I will never stop speaking on behalf of the people of Plateau State. By the grace of God, we have come to seek the welfare of our people, and we will not stop doing that,” he said.

Mutfwang also highlighted the welfare interventions undertaken by his administration, disclosing that more than ₦4 billion was spent on assisting residents with school fees, medical bills and other forms of support in 2025.

“Someone said I am stingy, but I discovered from the Accountant-General that from January to December last year, we spent over ₦4 billion assisting Plateau people.

“People I never knew, but as far as it is a Plateau person, it touches my heart. We have paid school fees and medical bills for people,” he added.

The governor further said his administration remains committed to delivering infrastructure and social services across the state.

He thanked church leaders and citizens for their prayers and support, describing the thanksgiving service as an opportunity to acknowledge God’s faithfulness despite the challenges faced by the state.
