The Federal Government, through the Ministry of Education, will officially unveil the Diaspora BRIDGE Platform on Monday, 28th July 2025, at the State House, Abuja.
According to a press release shared via the Ministry’s official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Wednesday, the launch event will be presided over by the Vice President, Kashim Shettima, alongside the Minister of Education, Olatunji Alausa.
The Diaspora BRIDGE, an acronym for Bridging Research, Innovation, Development, and Global Engagement, is a strategic digital platform developed to connect Nigerian professionals and academics in the diaspora with tertiary education and research institutions across Nigeria.
It is part of the Ministry’s broader efforts to foster innovation, strengthen institutional capacity, and position the country as a hub for global academic engagement and knowledge exchange.
The platform is expected to enable Nigerian diaspora experts to register their profiles and indicate areas of specialization.
It will also support collaboration between these experts and institutions, including universities, polytechnics, colleges of education, and other research institutes within Nigeria.

The release further stated that the platform will enhance access to global expertise, promote skills and knowledge transfer, and facilitate mentorship opportunities. Nigerian institutions will be able to invite registered diaspora professionals to engage in collaborative academic, technical, and research-based initiatives.
The Ministry also noted that the platform will integrate with tools for virtual collaboration, academic matchmaking, and project tracking. Additionally, it will complement existing government systems such as the Tertiary Education and Research Applications (TERAS) platform and other frameworks managed by education agencies.
It will support seamless engagement with institutions in Nigeria and provide structured access to diaspora expertise for academic development and national growth.
The platform aims to strengthen linkages with Nigerian scholars and professionals abroad while encouraging their participation in national capacity-building and innovation.
