“We have attracted investments and touched every community with special projects chosen by each community. We have taken back our cities and communities to the brutal hands of armed robbers and kidnappers who once made our beloved state a dread to decent people and a taboo to investors.

“We have turned the table of our enemies and our adversities into advantages. We are Nigeria’s safest state today. We have elevated governance in building roads and bridges to building lives. We are the new agricultural model for Nigeria.”

Anambra State Made Lagos What It Is – Obiano

The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has said that Lagos State is what it is because of the impact of ‘Anambrarians’ on the state.

According to him, “Anambra made Lagos what it is” whether anyone accepts it or not.

He made the comments during an interview with Channels Television while stating developments in the state as well as his plans for the next four years as he succeeded in his re-election bid after securing a landslide victory over 36 others gunning for his position.

“Before I came in, security was an issue. I came, I saw, I conquered and it’s not a static thing. Security is continuous, so we are moving and we are going to put in more efforts to ensure that the next four years is even far better than they have seen it now.

“I’ll keep awake so that all Anambra people and those living in Anambra can sleep with their two eyes closed.

“I’m not going to drop the ball, my eyes are on the ball. I am working hard to ensure that at the end of my eight years, governors coming after me will not have to depend on FAAC to run the state and that’s what I’m doing in investments. Security is the greatest thing that I have done and it is bringing a lot of people in.

“The greatest thing we want to do is to emulate what the Israelis have done. We have very rich Anambra people all over the world – Anambra made Lagos what it is, whether they want to accept it or not – the taxes that are paid are mostly by Anambra people.

“The development that is going on there, the houses that are owned there – it is the same all over the place but none in the south east. Why? First no security then, now we’ve gotten security.

“So I am emphasizing that this is time to come home and invest. By the way, we have reduced our challenges on investment to almost zero. Anambra now is the easiest place to come for investment because you sit in a one-stop investment outfit called ANCIPA, headed by many bankers – You get things sorted out in an hour or two – you get your C of O in two weeks if your case is good. If your case is not good, they help you build it or they cancel it as the case may be.”

‘Choose Your Project’

Also According to him, his administration is already doing so much in agriculture and it is set to do even more.

He also noted that the ‘Choose Your Project’ community project which his administration started has gone a long way in improving the standard of living across communities in the state.

“One of the things that won me accolades amongst all the local governments basically was the Choose Your Project community project – 40 million per community.

“All communities are choosing their second project now, it has never happened in the history of Nigeria anywhere at all. Every community even the remotest place in Anambra benefitted from that project. Apart from the schools, we built for them they now got the money and we are trying to build a bridge too, roads and what have you.

“I have reassured Ndi Anambra that I’m going to increase IGR without increasing taxes.”

‘Campaign of Calumny’

Furthermore, the governor expressed gratitude to the people of Anambra for choosing him to lead them again and he gave the assurance that the administration will touch the lives of less privileged in the state.

He also expressed confidence that subsequently his party, APGA, will win elections in other South- East states.

“Well, first I thank God the almighty for making this possible and the overwhelming endorsement by Ndi Anambra, that I should move on with what I am doing for them.

“This second administration will touch the lives of the less privileged, the common man on the street who voted for me, it will also touch the lives of the big people whose industries will employ the young ones that we are bringing.

“This victory will have a permanganate effect on the south-east. We are going to win all the states in the south-east.

Nobody has won 21 over 21. We scored 100% – it was a full endorsement by the people, I was returned unopposed and it hasn’t happened in history despite all the campaign of calumny by funny people all over the place.

“The same thing will happen there and we will do like the Yoruba’s did. They started from Lagos – AD – won some of the states in the west, now formed a block to be able to negotiate with the centre.

“That is our strategy and we can achieve that with ease,” he added.

APGA Will Win Elections In All South-East States, Says Obiano

The Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, has expressed confidence that his party – the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), will win elections in other South- East states.

He said this in an interview with Channels Television in Anambra State, shortly after he was declared the winner of the governorship election on Sunday, November 19.

In response to the fact that he is the only governor form APGA, he said he was not under any pressure whatsoever rather, his re-election would have a ripple effect in helping the party gain more prominence across the rest of the South-East.

“This victory will have a permanganate effect on the south-east. We are going to win all the states in the South-East.

“Nobody has won 21 over 21.

Speaking about what his administration is set to do in its second term, Obiano stressed that his focus would be on expanding the scope of investments in the state.

According to him, Anambra state has become one of the easiest places to make investments in, therefore, his focus would be to encourage more indigenes from across the world to come in and make investments.

“I am emphasizing that this is the time to come home and invest. By the way, we have reduced our challenges on investment to almost zero. Anambra now is the easiest place to come for investment because you sit in a one-stop investment outfit called ANCIPA, headed by many bankers and you get things sorted out in an hour or two.”

Speaking further on his plans for the state he said: “This second administration will touch the lives of the less privileged, the common man on the street who voted for me, it will also touch the lives of the big people whose industries will employ the young ones that we are bringing.”

The Senate has ordered the Inspector General of Police, (IGP), Ibrahim Idris to immediately restore the security details of Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano.

The lawmakers on Wednesday, November 15, criticised the decision of the IGP to withdraw the security detail attached to the governor, claiming that it is to allow for a level playing field for all contestants in the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra State.

The Senate’s resolution followed a point of order moved by Emmanuel Bwacha, who earlier informed the Senate that the IG’s explanation that the Police wants a level playing ground for all contestants in the Anambra governorship election is untenable and not in line with constitutional provisions.

The upper Legislative House has directed the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Police Affairs to ensure that Obiano’s security aides were reinstated by Thursday, November 17.

The Anambra governorship election is set to hold on Saturday, November 18.

Oseloka Blasts Obiano, Says His Administration Lacks Vision

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Obaze Oseloka has blasted the incumbent governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano, saying his administration lacks vision and purpose.

Oseloka, speaking at the Anambra State Governorship Debate organised by Channels Television, he said that the state is in dire need of purposeful government that can fix the state.

‘’This is a government that is visionless; government must be purposeful, government must be adapting. You use your resources for what it’s supposed to be not for what you think is. We need infrastructure that works. We don’t need this type of government in the next four years. I submit myself to serve.’’

Oseloka, who was a former Secretary to the State Government (SSG) to Obiano’s government said that the current Anambra State government has grounded the state to a position where it needs to be fixed.

‘’This government has spent almost N600billion in the last four years; there is nothing commensurate to show. Where are the roads he (Willie Obiano) constructed? This state is broken, we need to fix it.’’

Speaking on the proscription of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Obazele said it is a regrettable development, blaming the Obiano-led administration for sitting and watching while IPOB was proscribed by the federal Government.

‘’What happened is most regrettable. Before IPOB, we’ve had militancy in the Niger Delta, they were never declared terrorists. We had the Fulani herdsmen, they were never declared terrorists and none of them were proscribed. I don’t understand how this governor can sit here and young Igbo men who are unemployed and looking for a source of livelihood were branded terrorists and proscribed.

‘’Those who make peaceful change impossible make violent change inevitable.’’

Obiano said the apart from generating N1billion monthly, Anambra also pay workers salaries promptly.

Anambra State Governor Willie Obiano says his administration is committed to improving healthcare delivery across the state to provide affordable and accessible service for all.

In the light of this, the governor donated N258.5m to faith-based hospitals in the state as intervention funds to run proper healthcare system.

Presenting the cheques to the mission representatives on Tuesday at the Professor Dora Akunyili Women Development Center in Awka, he said the disbursement was part of efforts to support the mission as major players in the ongoing health revolution in the state.

Obiano also explained that the monies were distributed according to the number of hospitals owned by various denominations as the law gazettes, as well as their capacities as worked out in the state 2017 budget.

He said the development was aimed at structuring health approach in the state in three critical areas that include the provision of infrastructure, ensuring the comfort of patients as well as training and retraining of health workers.

On his part, the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joe Akabuike, disclosed that the government has introduced total health reforms that have guaranteed coordination and greater efficiency in the state’s health sector.

He noted that some major breakthroughs of the administration – which include the introduction of Universal Health Insurance Scheme; strengthening of the state primary healthcare system and the setting up of the State Integrated Emergency Management System – were helpful during the Ozubulu shooting incident.

The Special Adviser to the governor on Agriculture, Tourism, Training, Methodology and state Emergency, Amaechi Okwuosa, commended the governor for the fund distribution.

Okwuosa described Obiano as the most mission-friendly governor in Nigeria, saying the cordial relationship he has with the church was without bias.

The Roman Catholic Mission received a cheque of N159.5m, the Anglican got N84m while the Pentecostal mission received the sum of N15m.

Other faith-based hospitals that were not included in the disbursement were asked to forward their details for inclusion in the 2018 budget of the state.

Civil War Veterans Endorse Obiano For 2nd Term

The civil war veterans in Anambra State have endorsed Governor Willie Obiano for a second term in office for what they describe as his all-encompassing leadership qualities.

The decision was reached at a round table discussion between the Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, and the Biafra war veterans at the governor’s lodge, Amawbia.

Also among the issues discussed was the killing of some members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) during a protest in Nkpor in 2016.

General achuzie declared that the governor did not order the shooting of the defenseless agitators protesting on the platform of IPOB as the police and the Army were not in a position to take direct orders from the governor.

He spoke extensively on the build up to the protest which he said he was privy to as the patron of the IPOB and recalled how he spoke with the then Commissioner Of Police to request that they allowed the agitators to stage a peaceful protest but noted that on that fateful day after the protesters were attacked, a false report was forwarded to the governor.

He insisted that the governor had shown genuine commitment to the people’s history and struggle by undertaking the burial of all that died during the civil war in a state burial tagged “Ozoemena” meaning never again. General Achuzie, therefore, urged people not to be misled by the malicious insinuation that the governor had a hand in the shooting.

“Since then, not now, I have been saying it that no report came to me of the participation of the governor or governor giving that instruction and we are also aware that the governor cannot give instruction to Commissioner Of Police. Commissioner of Police takes orders from the Inspector General of Police while the Army officer takes permission from the GOC at 82 division.”

Speaking on the matter, the governor expressed appreciation to the association for their support and solidarity especially for making clarifications on the IPOB issues.

He, therefore, assured the people that he was committed to promoting peace and stability in the state adding that nothing would come between him and the social contract he had with the people of Anambra State to ensure a meaningful life for all in the state.

Furthermore, he reiterated his innocence in the IPOB saga saying: “I never at any point in time ordered anyone to be shot anywhere.”
