Osun

OsunThere was pandemonium on Tuesday morning at the entrance o‎f the Osun State government office Abeere following the order and counter order of strike by the two factions of the Trade Union Congress, TUC in the state.

The crisis got heated up when a faction of the union and its workers reported for work against the order of the erstwhile Chairman of the TUC ‎comrade Francis Adetunji.

Some workers alleged to be loyal to him led a number of hoodlums to the scene to unleash terror on the workers.

The hoodlums, who attacked the waiting journalists and the workers with machetes, bottles, stones, rakes, pestles, planks and some other harmful tools were brought in the branded vehicle of the state council of the TUC in the company of some workers identified as Bimbo Olowookere, Bimbo Arapasogo and Idowu Ajomole of Adetunji’s faction.

The hoodlums, also attacked Channels TV cameraman, Oloyede Oyegbenle and also carted away his camera and some other tools, before armed policemen intervened and chased them away using tear gas.

‎Efforts to speak with the other factional chairman of the union, comrade Francis Adetunji ‎as at the time of filing this report proved abortive.

‎The Francis Adetunji faction of the union had yesterday directed civil servants in the state to proceed on three day warning strike starting from today, the directive which the comrade Akinyemi Olatunji faction said has nothing to do with them.
