Fed. Lawmakers Call For National Policy On HepatitisThe House of Representatives has called for a national policy on Hepatitis to reduce the burden of the disease in Nigeria.

According to the House on Thursday, coming up with a policy similar to that of HIV/AIDS would go a long way in curbing the spread of the disease.

The motion was moved by a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC) representing Gombe State, Honourable Aishatu Dukku, at the Lower Chamber of the National Assembly in Abuja.

The Legislator further urged the Federal government to create public awareness on Hepatitis and integrate the Hepatitis B vaccine into the National Immunization Programmes.

Immigration Management Summoned

The lawmakers also summoned the management of the Nigeria Immigration Service over its refusal to give effect to the employment of families of victims of the 2014 immigration recruitment stampede.

This motion was taken after relatives of the victims staged a protest at the National Assembly over their not being compensated 18 months after the tragedy.
