
The State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, made the statement on Tuesday while receiving members of the House of Representatives Committee on Army which was led by its Deputy Chairman, Funke Adedoyin.
Governor Ahmed, who identified the Nigerian Army Sobi Cantonment as a strong security partner, said that the presence of the cantonment in Ilorin was strategic in forestalling breakdown of law and order and ensuring genuine economic growth in the state.
He assured the lawmakers that his government would continue to support the Nigerian Army, Sobi in meeting its infrastructural deficit.
The Governor commended the House Committee on Army for embarking on a visitation to army formations across the country.
He also urged the Committee not to relent on its oversight functions in order to ensure adequate security in the country.
Earlier, the Deputy Chairman, House of Representatives Committee on Army, commended the State Government for the existing working relationship with the Nigerian Army.
Mrs Adedoyin, who represented Irepodun, Isin, Oke-ero and Ekiti Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, expressed concern over the deplorable condition of Oloru-bode Saadu-jebba federal road which she described as a ‘disaster’.
She, however, urged the Governor to intervene in the interest of Nigerian economy.
