Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano.

The bomb explosion, which was said to have occurred in the commercial city of Onitsha, Anambra State, southeast Nigeria, is a hoax.

It was a petrol explosion accident which occurred around 8:30PM on Tuesday, at a settlement known as Kara Market along Atani road, Iyiowa, in Ogbaru Local Government Area of the state, in which 13 persons sustained varying degrees of burns and were rushed to nearby hospitals.

In a visit to Toronto Hospital Onitsha, where three of the victims are receiving treatment, Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, decried the challenge of petrol scarcity, which is forcing people to buy and store the commodity in plastic cans, thereby exposing themselves to dangers of fire accident.

The Governor, who promised to bear the cost of the treatment of the all the victims, appealed to the general public to desist from acts that will allow wanton destruction of lives and property and embrace safety habits for a better life.
The victims according to the physician are in stable condition.
