Two suspected members of a fundamentalist sect, Boko Haram were allegedly killed when a car bomb exploded during a military raid on a suspected hideout for the group on Saturday in Kano state.

The explosion also left two soldiers wounded.

Confirming the incident, an officer of the Joint Military Task Force serving in the state,  Brigadier general Iliyasu Abbato,  informed journalists that the attack happened around 1 a.m. He stated that suspected members of Boko Haram detonated the explosive during the raid in Sabuwar Gandu neighborhood of the commercial city.

Abba added that four wives and eight children were arrested at the compound after the blast, which left shattered glass and blood on the floor as part of the home destroyed.

Boko Haram has been waging an increasingly insurgency across the states in northern Nigeria, killing hundreds of people in its jail breaks, school arson and attacks on police station. The group’s attack in Kano, earlier in the year claimed almost 200 lives.
