Eleven Stars Football Club of Ali Kazaure in Jos North Local Government Area of Plateau State has won the special task force football for peace tournament as part of measure to cement cordial relationship among youths in the warring areas of the state.
Eleven stars defeated Gangere Boys on penalty shoot-out after a one all draw at the end of ninety minutes of play to cart away the trophy, a set of jersey and one hundred thousand naira prize money.
The soccer tourney was organised by special task force overseeing the maintenance of law and order with a mandate from the defence headquarters on peace keeping mission for internal security in Plateau state and particularly in some local government areas where state of emergency has been imposed.
Twenty four teams were drawn from the four local government areas where there are prevalent crises in plateau participated in the special task force football for peace tournament sponsored by the Defence Headquarters, Abuja.
Eleven stars of Ali Kazaure beat others to emerge champions as Gangere football club came second while Kaduna Vom Strikers were third. Other prizes are most valuable player won by Abu Aliyu of Gengere FC; highest goal scorer was Aliko Zomo while Kaduna Vom was adjudged the most disciplined team of the tournament.
Nigeria Football Federation member Suleiman Kwande expresses satisfaction over the conduct of officials and commended organisers of the tournament.
