The Lagos State Government, on Tuesday disclosed that over 540 million gallons of water will be required daily to address the issue of water shortage in Lagos.

General Manager of Lagos Water Corporation, Mr. Shayo Holloway, at a press conference said “With the population of the state, our current water demand daily is about 540 million gallons per day. The state has an installed capacity of 210 million of gallons per day, leaving the state with a shortfall of 330 millions of gallons per day.”

According to him,  the drive by the state to maintain the installed capacity recently met a brickwall as two of its independent power plants in Iju and Adiyan developed mechanical faults.

Holloway explained that the fault was discovered recently, adding that the corporation had since sworn into action to rehabilitate the power plants, which had rendered the two water works incapable of meeting the water demands of the residents of the state.
