President Goodluck Jonathan on Wednesday ordered a probe into the killing of students at the Federal Polytechnic, Mubi, Adamawa State, by unknown gunmen.

The gruesome attack which is yet to be claimed by any group also led to the death of a retired soldier, a guard and the father of a student.

A displeased President Jonathan gave the directive after the weekly Federal Executive Council meeting, where members were briefed about the massacre by the Minister of Education, Prof. Ruqqayattu Rufai.

He directed security agencies to pursue all leads and ensure the arrest and prosecution of all those involved in the massacre.

Unidentified gunmen on Tuesday night invaded an off-campus residence of the students and called out the names of their victims from a hit list whom were thereafter executed one after the other.

Presidential Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, told newsmen at the end of the meeting that Jonathan viewed it as “barbaric and shocking.”
