The Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on Tuesday adjourned till the 20 November the trial of the Speaker of Lagos State House of Assembly, Adeyemi Ikuforiji, and his aide, Oyebode Atoyebi.

The presiding judge, Justice Okechukwu Okeke who was prepared to go on with the trial was forced to adjourn after receiving a letter from the Counsel to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Godwin Obla who asked to be excused on grounds of ill- health.
Mr Ikuforiji, who was present in court, is standing trial with his aide for alleged money laundering to the tune of N501 million.
Lawyers representing the Speaker and his aide, Tayo Oyetibo and Adindu Ugwuzor, respectively, confirmed that they were aware of the letter sent by Mr Obla and therefore did not oppose the application for adjournment.
Justice Okeke consequently adjourned the case to November 20 and 21, 2012 for continuation of trial.
