The Jump favourites are reuniting once more to star at a 20th anniversary all-star concert honouring So So Def Recordings in Atlanta next month.
The Kriss Kross duo of Chris ‘Mac Daddy’ Kelly and Chris ‘Daddy Mac’ Smith, both now 32, will be the stars of the show at the Fox Theatre on February 23.
And supporters of the pair will be hoping the appearance paves the way for a more substantial comeback tour.
Having the chance to see two grown men parading around on stage while wearing their clothes back-to-front will surely lift the event from the realms of nostalgia curiosity into a piece of musical history.
Fans of this golden age of commercialised rap will be served a veritable feast of music during the exciting show.
Da Brat, Jermaine Dupri, Xscape, Bow Wow and Jagged Edge will also be performing.
Label founder Jermaine said “not only is it an honour to be able to stand here 20 years after our very first release in 1993, Xscape’s number one single Just ‘Kickin It’, but it’s truly an achievement that we can bring everyone back together to celebrate over two decades of music excellence.
‘We also acknowledge 1992 as the year when So So Def Productions introduced to the world Kris Kross, who had everyone jumping.’
Starstruck Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed joined the artists of So So Def Records on stage to announce the show.
He said: ‘Atlanta has a thriving music industry, and So So Def Recordings has been an important part of that legacy for the past two decades.
‘This milestone is another example of why Atlanta is the entertainment capital of the Southeast.
‘I am pleased that So So Def has called our great city home for 20 years, and I wish the company continued success for many more years to come.’
Kris Kross are best known for their hit 1992 song Jump, which was number one on the Billboard Hot 100 for eight weeks and was certified double platinum as a single.
The dynamic duo were discovered in 1990 by 18-year-old Jermaine Dupri at an Atlanta shopping mall and within two years had landed a spot on Michael Jackson’s Dangerous World Tour.
Another career peak came in 1993, when they recorded the unforgettable Rugrats Rap for the hit Nickelodeon cartoon.
