Police DIG Begins Sensitization On Department ‘F’

The Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of F Department, Mr. Atiku Yusuf Kafur  has begun to sensitize various police offices across different states about the importance and duties of the institutions’ Department ‘F.’

The “F” department is one in charge of Audit and Inspection in the Nigeria Police Force.

Kafur embarked on a sensitization tour of states to acquaint officers of the police force with the activities that obtain in the department.

Mr. Kafur said the “F” department will be in charge of inspecting police headquarters, area commands, police hospitals and clinics, police stations and police posts with proper auditing being carried out also to ensure effective police operation throughout the country.

The Deputy Inspector General of Police arrived at the Anambra Police Headquarters in Awka and was received by the state Commissioner of Police, Bala Nasarawa. The DIG who came in the company of a foreign colleague sensitized the officers of the state police on the activities and functions of “F” department in the Nigeria Police Force.

He expressed worry that “most officers do not know the number of departments in the police force. He revealed that the departments are eight in number and the last which is the “G” department was a product of the Inspector General of Police’s transformation programme taking charge of administration, community policing, research and planning and information technology”.

For the foreign counterpart, he spoke in the area of community policing and insisted that it must be used to serve the community better when a better attitude is formed towards it.

For the State Commissioner of Police, he pleaded that a second look be taken at the state police headquarters in view of positive steps to be taken to erect a befitting edifice.

The deputy inspector general of police will visit Enugu on the same matter as well as other states in the southeast.
