Governor Adams Oshiomhole today recalled 17 sacked teachers and 41 Education inspectors relieved of their duties early in the year on account of negligence and appealed to Public Servants to show commitment towards improving the plight of Nigerians  as the country celebrates this year’s May Day.

In his address, Mr. Oshiomhole stated that some Public Servants usually abandon their jobs for selfish interests and called for a change in their attitude to work.

The Labour union leaders seized the opportunity of a dialogue session with  Oshiomhole to ask for the reinstatement of teachers and school inspectors who were sacked early this year, and also aired their grievances over the appointment of a non-civil servant as a permanent secretary.

Governor Oshiomhole who acknowledged their grievances however said that beyond making demands, workers should be ready to earn their wages, as wages are not awards but reward for labour.

He frowned at the lackadaisical attitude of civil servants which he noted is the cause of the rot in the country.

Oshiomhole granted the request made by the Labour unions as the sacked workers were recalled and asked to resume duty from next week.

Oshiomhole who also was a former labour leader said he has embarked on a quiet revolution to change the state and that such should be acknowledged and commended since the bulk of the issues that Labour is agitating for occurred during the PDP administration and went unchallenged, he however assured that he is committed to labour and will not use his office or any skill he possesses against labour.
