The House of Representatives has directed the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar to withdraw police officers from the premises of the Rivers State House of Assembly.
Speaking on the motion on Thursday, member representing Degema/Bonny Federal Constituency, Representative Sekonte Davies, observed that the deployment of such force is anti-democracy and capable of sending wrong signals of political and social instability to the people of the state.
The House mandated its committees on Police Affairs, Justice and Human Rights to conduct a thorough investigation to ascertain the remote and immediate causes of the deployment of police to the assembly.
