The Brazilian announced on Tuesday that he was leaving Ferrari at the end of the season, to be replaced by Kimi Raikkonen, who will return to the Formula One team that took him to the title in 2007.
Asked about Sunday’s Singapore race, Massa said: “The expectations are always very high, I mean, it’s the only night race that we have, race in the middle of the town, the city, with a lot of fans, especially for Ferrari, so the expectation is always high, and as I said, I hope we can have a great race here.”
While speculation about Massa’s future has been a regular occurrence of recent seasons, this time the Brazilian recognised he had run out of road and his exit could leave his country without a driver on the starting grid.
As he left the showroom on Wednesday, he declined to answer questions.
Massa has not won since 2008, when he was overall runner-up, and has been on the podium just once this year.
