
The group also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to curb acts that could breed violence in the 2015 general elections, which may also lead to human rights abuse.
Ezike said such acts would unarguably threaten democracy, create chaos and undermine the rights of the people.
“We urge the security agencies, INEC, the National Human Rights Commission and media to be extra vigilant and take proper actions that would ensure peace.
“We recall that, in the last elections, pre-elections and elections violence erupted as a result of malicious utterances”.
“Many Nigerians who came out to exercise their franchise were injured or killed”.
Ezike advised politicians to be committed to the nation’s development rather than threatening masses to vote for them.
He further advised INEC to guide against marginalisation, as the minority group has every right to agitate for political equilibrium.
Mr. Ezike also warned of the dire consequences, if the trend is not checked.
