Former President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Most Revd Peter Akinola, who regained his freedom from his abductors has joined other Christians in the special church service held at the St. Peters’ Church of Nigeria, Anglican Communion in Abeokuta.

Joined by friends, relatives and the congregation, Peter Akniola was full of praises to God, the Ogun State Government and the Nigeria Police for their quick intervention which led to his freedom.

While recounting his ordeal while it lasted, the former CAN president challenged youths of the country to make themselves available for various opportunities being put in place by government and concerned Nigerians to fully develop their innate and God given talents.

“I want to appeal to all our young people, acquire some skills, put your hand to some work, you can earn a living.”

He recounted his conversation with one of his abductors: “This young man was telling me in the car that he was educated, but he has no job, he has nothing to do than to do what he’s doing now but he doesn’t enjoy it. Those were his words that I don’t enjoy what I’m doing but I have to do it.”

He spoke further about his advice to the man to submit himself to be trained and equipped but he vehemently refused: “Me, come to you? So you will hand me over to the Police?

While admitting that the man sounded truly educated as he spoke good English, Most Revd  Akinola, admonished young Nigerians to shun violence and embrace the positive path to survival.
