Nigerians have been asked to pray for political leaders to imbibe the culture of accountability, in order to move the country forward.

The Diocesan Bishop of Lagos and Dean Emeritus, Anglican Communion, Most Reverend Adebola Ademowo, made the appeal on Sunday as part of his Easter message.

According to him, “There is hope. We must continue to pray for Nigeria and I know that things will be back to normal. While not because of the prayers of the faithful, we won’t be where we are.

“We will pray more for Nigeria, we will pray more for political leaders so that they can continue to believe in accountability”.

The clergyman also expressed concern over security in the country and condemned the influx of arms into Nigeria.

“There are too many illegal influx of arms into the country and that is making life difficult. We need to checkmate all those,” he advised.

Bishop Ademowo further asked government to provide more jobs for the teeming youths, saying most of them still struggle for employment after their education.

“We need to pray more and provide more jobs for the youths. In the Diocese of Lagos, what we have done is to give them loans so that they can start their own small scale businesses.

“I only hope that someday, sometime, they won’t start to go on a rampage; we pray they don’t. But they are in their millions, they are graduating from universities and they can’t get jobs, they are just there,” he said.
