A member of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Mr Oluwole Oke today declared his ambition to run for the office of governor in Osun state.

He made the declaration while addressing members of the party at a rally in Osogbo, the state capital shortly after submitting his declaration form to the party leadership signifying his ambition to run as the Party’s flag bearer in the August 9 election.

The former lawmaker had in December 2013, obtained the expression of interest form to contest for the PDP ticket in Osogbo.

He said he is committed to pursuing his ambition to contest the 2014 governorship election with the incumbent governor and expressed hope that he will defeat Governor Rauf Aregbesola.

“It is not going to be easy to battle an incumbent governor. But I would dislodge Aregbesola’s government next year by the grace of God,” he said after picking the form.

Responding, the chairman of PDP in Osun State, Mr Ganiyu Ola-Oluwa assured that the party will not impose aspirants and promised that the candidate of the party will emerge through primary election.
