
The former Head of State, while commissioning the project, commended the initiative of the State Government in the provision of healthcare facilities which he noted should be emulated by others.
The guest of honour noted that only the implementation of good and laudable programmes and projects by all tiers of government would ensure quick development of the country and eradicate the present challenges in the country.
The retired general also used the occasion to call on Nigerians to unite in tackling the current challenges facing the country.
The State Governor, Abdulfattah Ahmed, noted that the refurbished general hospitals would further strengthen the secondary healthcare system in the state, adding that the government would continue to ensure that patients did not travel far before enjoying affordable and qualitative healthcare.
The State Commissioner for Health, Kayoed Issa, has earlier explained that the hospital was taken over in bad shape before the intervention of the State Government to ensure that the people enjoy good health.
The remodelled Ilorin General Hospital was awarded to contractors in 2012 and the State Governor constantly visited the site to monitor the progress of work and directed the supervising ministry to ensure that quality job was done on the hospital.
