IGPSeven Police officers ranging from the ranks of Assistant Inspector-General of Police and Assistant Commissioners of Police recently promoted have been decorated with their new ranks by the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Abubakar.

Surrounded by friends and family, among the promoted officers was the force Public Relations Officer, Frank Mba, who was promoted to the rank of Assistant Commissioner of Police.

According to the Inspector-General of Police, the promotion comes with a responsibility to do more.

He warned that the Police management would not hesitate to withdraw the promotion if any officer is found wanting.

“The fact that you’re promoted means you have more challenges, you have added responsibilities, you have to do more… and we expect leadership in all respect of your actions and vice versa to all other ranks.

“We shall not hesitate to do otherwise when you believe that you are promoted and you abandon those responsibilities that you are supposed to discharge, and your behaviour and your mannerism change negatively and you cannot project the good image of the service and the country at large”, he said.

The most senior of the promoted officers, AIG Grace Okudo, assured the police management and the public of their dedication to duty by ensuring the security of lives and property.

The seven officers are part of 210 senior officers recently approved for promotion by the Police Service Commission.
