Police The Kano State Police Command has arrested 37 suspected armed robbers and recovered 39 stolen motor vehicles across Kano State.

Addressing a news conference, the state’s Police Commissioner, Mr Aderinle Shinaba, told journalists that 22 of the suspects were already charged to court while 15 of them are still undergoing investigation.

Items recovered, according to the command, include 2 AK-47 rifles with 24 rounds of 7.62mm live ammunition with 2 magazines, one English pistol with 7 rounds of 7mm live ammunition, 8 locally made pistols with 17 cartridges. One pump action and Dane gun were all recovered.

The command has also raided various criminal hideouts and black spots across the state and in the process arrested 146 suspected criminals.

Exhibits such as housebreaking implements, machetes, dried leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, suck and die as well as other incriminating items were recovered.

Two men were also arrested in possession of 30 stolen vehicles. They have confessed to have bought and sold stolen cars and organized car theft within Kano and environs.

While appreciating the timely information they received from the citizens of Kano State, the command has also handed over the stolen vehicles to their rightful owners.
