Violence has erupted in Ado Ekiti on Friday morning following a disagreement between students of the Ekiti State University and bus drivers at Fajuyi park in the state capital.

The disagreement was said to have degenerated to a shouting match, which attracted some policemen who began shooting sporadically on arrival at the scene.

The situation became violent after the bus drivers were asked by their leader to disarm the policemen, resulting in a clash between them.

It was gathered that the crisis was brought under control following the intervention of the Commissioner of Police in the State Command, Taiwo Lakanu, who asked the parties to maintain calm and promised to investigate the matter.
