The State House of Assembly election was disrupted by some youths who alleged that the ballot papers were fake at Ayingba, a town under Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State.

The Assistant Presiding Officer of the Ijileft unit, Mr Buhari, told Channels Television that the All Progressives Congress (APC) group destroyed the ballot boxes.

The mobile policemen dispersed to Ayingba came in to arrest the situation by shooting sporadically to scare people away as the situation was going out of hand.

The Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Mr Samuel Ogunjemilusi, in company of the NNS, Lugard Commodore, DSS Director and the Army commander visited Ayingba.

The security top officials had a chat with some members of the group.

The group accused some top government officials of committing electoral malpractice. They also accused the DPO in Ayingba of compromising after collecting money.

Meanwhile, in Lokoja, Channels Television Correspondent spoke with the Kogi State Residence Electoral Commissioner, Professor Jacob Jatau, who said that the allegation levied on him was baseless.

Professor Jatau noted that he had not seen the Governor of the state since he assumed office as the Governor of  Kogi State.

Speaking on the allegation of fake ballot papers, the REC said that the ballot papers were authentic.

The Kogi State House of Assembly election started in some parts of the state as early as 8am with accreditation of electorate.

However, the turn out of people in the state was very low in most of the polling units visited by Channels Television Correspondent in Lokoja and outside the state capital.
