Reps Crisis: Dogara's Camp Conceed Majority Leadership To GbajabiamilaThe camp of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, have conceded the Majority Leader’s position to Honourable Femi Gbajabiamila’s camp in the lower chamber of the National Assembly.

The development is coming after the nomination of principal officials in both chambers had caused a vast fragmentation among lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC), including stakeholders in the party.

However, conceding to Honourable Gbajabiamila was not without a caution that the candidate must not emerge from the Southwest or Northeast geopolitical zone, an indication that the group has proactively edged out Gbajabiamila.

Briefing journalists in Abuja, the Spokesman of the Dogara camp, Honourable Abdulmumin Jibrin, insisted that the principle of equity and federal character must be respected in the distribution of the offices of the principal officers.

However, the Spokesman of the Gbajabiamila group, Honourable Nasir Daura, posited in a separate interview that no counter-offer had been made to the APC loyalists’ group.

With this process, the lingering crisis over the positions of principal officers in the House of Representatives may be far from over.

The APC had written to the Speaker of the House, nominating Gbajabiamila as the House Leader and recommending lawmakers to party’s remaining leadership positions but the Speaker, Yakubu Dogara, refused to act on the letter forwarded to him by the leadership of the party, citing a pending court case as an excuse.
