Police Arrest Two Notorious Robbery Suspects In Enugu

ekiti drivers-police-oyo-akwa ibomOfficials of the Nigeria Police Force have arrested a 12-man gang of kidnappers who have been terrorising Oruk Anam Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State for a long time.

The suspects were presented to reporters at the Police Headquarters in Uyo by the Public Relations Officer (PRO) of the Akwa Ibom State Police Command, Cordelia Nwanwe.

She revealed that the gang had kidnapped two women at Ikot Osute village in the Local government and kept them for six days.

Nwanwe said the kidnappers had demanded a ransom of five million Naira but were only able to get 130,000 Naira from their victims before luck ran out on them.

Some of the suspects including a physically challenged man confessed to the crime.

The police spokesperson also warned kidnappers and other criminals to stay away from the state, stressing that Police command had resolved to take the fight against crime to the dens of criminals.

She added that the feat was the result of intelligence policing by the command and assured law abiding residents of the security of lives and property.

While appealing to the public to help with information on criminals to ensure a safe society, Nwanwe said that Police command, under the Commissioner of Police, Murtala Mani, has recorded tremendous success in its renewed fight against kidnapping in the state.
