Reactions have continued to trail the statement credited to the wife of President Muhammadu Buhari that the present administration has been hijacked by persons who are not known to the president.

The wife of the president had told BBC that  a “few people” were behind presidential appointments.

A former chairman of the Labour Party, Comrade Dan Nwanyanwu, commended Mrs Buhari for the comment.

Mr Nwanyawu says it is an honest expression meant to galvanise President Buhari into retracing his steps.

“These are some of the advantages of education. Education gives you opportunity to be enlightened and you will speak your mind without undue timidity.

“Moral crusader in the sense that she has conscience and she felt that those who struggled with her during the campaign are not near the villa.

“I have made this point six months ago and it is not fair in politics.

“Moral crusader in the sense that she may not be in the position to talk to the same people again or some other people to join her in 2019, should the president elect to run again,” the former Labour Party Chairman sated.

He added that it was unfair for the president not to reward those who played key roles in his ascension to the presidency.

“A worker deserves his wages,” he insisted.

Another individual, the National Chairman of Young Democratic Party, Comrade Bishop Amachree, also expressed concerns about the comment of the wife of the president, saying it was an ominous sign that all was not well within the presidency.

“If the wife of Mr President should bring this to the public, it means that something is happening around the house.

“The fact still remains that this country belongs to all of us and not to a section. If you are a president, you are a president of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and you should extend the affection to other people,” he stressed.

The Wife of the President had in the interview with the BBC said she may not support the husband if he decides to run in 2019.

But in reaction, President Buhari dismissed the comments, saying he had a superior knowledge over his wife.

After laughing off the comments, the President said: “I don’t know which party my wife belongs to, but she belongs to my kitchen and my living room, and the other room”.

His response also elicited laughter from German Chancellor, Angela Merkel who was standing by the President’s side.

The President went on to say: “I claim superior knowledge over her and the rest of the opposition, because in the end I have succeeded.
