Wife of the Ogun State Governor, Mrs Olufunso Amosun, has appealed to well-meaning Nigerians and corporate organisations to help alleviate poverty among the less privileged.
She asked them to do more in coming to the needs of the lower citizens, especially in the period of the harsh economy.
Mrs Amosun made the call at an outreach programme on Monday in Abeokuta North Local Government Area of the state.
The programme was lined up to mark the “International Day for the Eradication of Poverty” in Ogun State, southwest Nigeria.
The governor’s wife donated various food items and cash to about 200 residents, as part of her contribution towards eradicating poverty among the people.
Some of the beneficiaries commended the first lady for her gesture.
They said it would go a long way to cushion the effects of Nigeria’s economic challenges.
