The Non-Academic members of staff of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN) on Tuesday protested at the state House of Assembly.

The workers were protesting non-payment of their March salary.

Members of the unions during the protest alleged that the Vice-chancellor and the management of the institution have withheld the workers’ salaries for the month of March while it paid that of the Academic members of staff.

The Joint Action Committee comprising of Non-Academic Staff Union of Nigerian Universities (NASU), Senior Staff Academic of Nigerian Universities (SSANU) and National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT) had last week called off their three-week-old strike.

This was after the intervention of the House of Assembly members who promised that no worker will be victimised for embarking on the industrial action.

The NASU workers during their protest on Tuesday demanded that the vice-chancellor, Professor Labo Popoola be probed for alleged mismanagement of N106 million. The workers also said that over N3billion handed over to the vice-chancellor by the last administration should be accounted for.

The workers also want the report of the investigative panel that was set up to probe the vice chancellor be made public.

Deputy Speaker of the House of Assembly who received the workers, Honourable Adegboyega Akintunde promised that the House will investigate the matter and proffer solution.
