Saraki Visits Offa, Condoles With Robbery Attack Victims

The Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki, has visited Offa town in Kwara State, where several persons were killed during a robbery attack.

In a Facebook post, the Senate President said he was in the town to condole with the traditional ruler and the people over the unfortunate incident that also left many others injured.

About 30 robbers had hit the town on Thursday, raiding five commercial banks along the Owode Market area of the town in Offa Local Government Area of the state.

Following his visit to Offa on Saturday, Senator Saraki said he had also called the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Mr Idris Ibrahim, to commiserate with him on the loss of some of his personnel during the robbery incident.

He said the IGP vowed to deploy additional police personnel as well as top investigators in the state to help in tracking down the perpetrators.

The Senate President thanked the police boss for his prompt response and the anticipated measures aimed at tackling the security menace.

He was also hopeful that with the measures being put in place by the police authorities, such ugly incident that has left the people of the state rattled and in grief would never reoccur.

Killings: IGP Orders Deployment Of Personnel To Kwara, Taraba States

The attack lasted for hours and left the banks damaged with many feared killed and many more injured.

The armed robbers were said to have made away with several millions of naira from the banks, leaving behind a tale of sorrow, tears and blood.

Nine police officers were among those killed in the attack as some of the assailants were said to have attacked the police station in the area.

However, the efforts of the police in apprehending the perpetrators have already been yielding results following the arrest of eight principal suspects linked to the attack.

Addressing journalists in Abuja on Sunday, the Force Public Relations Officer, Jimoh Moshood, said the suspects were arrested as a result of the intervention of a high-powered police investigation team working with the Kwara State Criminal and Investigation Department.
