Killings: Reps Condemn Sokoto Attack, Mourn Victims
Members of the House of Representatives has condemned the continued killing of Nigerians in the country.
The lawmakers during plenary on Thursday expressed concern over the loss of life in the state.
Gunmen had reportedly stormed Rabah Local Government area of the state on Monday killing about 32 people.
Two days later, the state government conducted a mass burial for the victims as the governor, Aminu Tambuwal who attended the burial described the attack as unfortunate.
He said the government would continue to support security agencies to check the menace.
“Government will continue to work with all security agencies in ensuring the safety of the people especially at this difficult times,’’ Tambuwal said while addressing the people.
In the same vein, President Muhammadu Buhari has vowed to spare no effort in stopping killings in the country.
“This administration will not allow any group of barbarians and criminals hold the country hostage and destroy life without consequences,” President Buhari was quoted as saying in a statement by his Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu.
“This wanton violence against innocent people won’t be tolerated by this government, and we are working round the clock to identify the people sponsoring these heartless attacks.”
