A Federal High Court sitting in Benin City, Edo State has convicted and sentenced one Ajayi Ogbemudia to one-year imprisonment for forgery and provision of false information.
According to a statement from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Justice Adefunmilola Demi-Ajayi sentenced Ogbemudia on Tuesday with an option of a fine of N300,000.
The anti-graft agency had arraigned the convict in July 2017 on seven counts bordering on forgery and provision of false information.
At the point of arraignment, Ogbemudia pleaded guilty to the charges of forgery and provision of false information, pressed against him.

Justice Demi-Ajayi convicted and sentenced him to one-year imprisonment accordingly.
The EFCC said Ogbemudia’s trouble started on February 6, 2017, when he stood as a surety for one Michael Ogbonavbare, a suspect being investigated by the commission.
Investigations later showed that Ogbemudia presented a document which upon verification by the EFCC was discovered to have been forged.
