Kano state government has directed the state pilgrim welfare board to immediately commence preparation for the next year’s hajj operations including the collection of relevant deposits from intending pilgrims.

At the launching of the national hajj scheme, the state government promises a continued collaboration with the federal government to ensure Muslims across the country perform hajj with without much stress.

According to governor Ganduje, the establishment of the national hajj scheme is a journey of over ten years which has finally come to a climax, “the launching of the first hajj saving scheme beginning from now for the next year’s hajj operations.”

The hajj saving scheme is designed to create opportunities for many Muslims to perform hajj with ease which would have otherwise be limited due to lack of funds.

“the hajj saving scheme is aimed at assisting participating intending pilgrims with windows for shari’a compliance investments in collaboration with the designated banks to generate profit and compliment their deposit, this is both unprecedented and revolutionary for intending pilgrims amidst the prevailing difficult moment of the global economy.”

The governor further emphasized that Kano state government is, therefore, is fully supporting this initiative and will ensure our pilgrim welfare board collaborate with the commission to avail citizens of Kano state the opportunities to hajj with ease and convenience offered by this very important scheme.

Chairman of the commission Zukirillah Hassan disclosed that the escalating cost of hajj operations is largely responsible for the national hajj commission to revisit section 7 subsection 1 of the legal instrument establishing the commission in order to provide the right climate for Nigerian Muslims to perform this important pillar of Islam.

“The new system will operate concurrently with what we have known as pay as you go, however payments made by intending pilgrims will remain with their state pilgrims welfare board. I will therefore be given priority to our preparation for the 2021 hajj operations”

The chairman also explained that intending pilgrims across the country no longer need to sell off or disposed of their life-saving assets to be able to pay for the hajj any more.

Speaking at the occasion, the Emir of Bichi Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, said under the new scheme, traditional institutions across the country will mobilize people through awareness creation on the importance of the scheme for the intending pilgrims.

“We will lend our support to ensure this project succeeds, we also like to appeal to all Muslims particularly those that intend to proceed on the journey of faith to embrace and participate actively in this scheme to enable get the benefit and advantages offered by this scheme”.

The newly established national hajj saving scheme will give every Nigerian Muslim the opportunity to perform hajj once in a lifetime without depending on anyone for help as well create opportunities for investments among the intending pilgrims.
