The Taraba State Governor Darius Ishaku says all is now set to revamp and reposition its tertiary education to meet the global demand for result-oriented graduates and more impactful studies.

He was speaking when he inaugurated members of the governing boards of the two foremost tertiary institutions of the College of Education and the state polytechnic Suntai.

Represented by his deputy, Haruna Manu, the decision is to make the institutions more responsive to the needs of the state and entrench a viable sector that will be in the forefront for training and molding of employable graduates.

He however reiterated his administration’s drive to invest more in education by giving education its rightful place in the scheme of affairs in Taraba.

”We are today witnessing another milestone in the history of this administration to rescue and reposition tertiary education in the state to be result-oriented and be more impactful in the connected drive to entrench a viable sector that will be in the forefront for training and molding our leaders of tomorrow ”

”The two tertiary institutions have in the past contributed immensely to the progress of the state in areas of educational advancement in Taraba ”

”The institutions, however, needs to do more by restrategizing in lime with modern trends worldwide in the training of professional teachers to improve education ”

”We also recognize that education is the bedrock of all modern societies, hence we must develop as a people ”

”Premium attention must be given to the sector in terms of investment, management and infrastructure ”

On the 27th day of July 2020, the state government had inaugurated a visitation panel to evaluate the academic and administrative performance of Taraba state Polytechnic Suntai as part of the preliminary procedure towards making the institution more responsive to the needs of the state.

”My administration after a painstaking process has carefully selected these eminent personalities to serve as board members ”

The Taraba state polytechnic Suntai has Lydia Ambituni as chairperson with Prof Joseph Rishanti, Dr. Ejika Sambo, Ayuba Bello, Christopher Bako, and Musa John as members.

The State’s College of Education (Zing) has Former Senator Zik Sunday as Chairman of the governing board with Polycarp Mamman, Sunday Ali, Abdulkarim Bakari, and Daniel Emmanuel as members.

He notes that the task before them is though daunting and enormous, but the state government is confident that their cognate experience and due diligence will be brought to bear in the assignment.

The Governor assured of his administration’s support to enable them to succeed.

” Permit me to reiterate this administration’s determination to invest more in education as we have in the past six years witnessed tremendous improvement ”

On the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the educational sector, the Governor says henceforth all tiers of its education must go into overdrive yet not compromising on the quality of knowledge been impacted.
