Police operatives attached to Ohaozara divisional headquarters in Ebonyi state have arrested one suspected armed robber wearing Nigeria army camouflage at Ugwulangwu in Ohaozara Local Government Area of the state.

The suspect was arrested following a robbery incident that took place along the Amasiri-Okigwe expressway by Oso-Edda in Afikpo South Local Government Area of the state on February 13, 2021.

A three-man gang allegedly tied down the driver of a bus conveying different types of goods and robbed him of his properties worth millions of naira and diverted the goods to an unknown destination.

Following the report by the driver of the said bus, police operatives trailed the suspected robbers to their hideout on 17th February 2021 at ugwulangwu in ohaozara l.g.a of the state, where one of the suspects was arrested while the other two took their heels.

Items recovered from the suspect includes two locally made double barrel pistols, with three live cartridges, one revolver pistol with five live ammunition, some of the stolen goods and a pair of military camouflage.

According to the police, the suspect confessed to the crime and admitted that the said camouflage belongs to their gang leader popularly known as ‘Iron’ who is still at large.

Meanwhile, police authorities in Ebonyi state are calling on the general public to provide the command with useful, relevant and timely information on activities of criminal elements in their areas to enable them reduce crime to the barest minimum in the state.
