Police Rescue Abducted Commuters In Ondo State 

The gunmen had earlier killed one of the commuters and the driver.

Police authorities in Ondo State say the victims of Friday’s abduction in Ifon, Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State have been found and rescued.

The victims were travelling from the South-East at about 11 pm when they fell into the hands of gunmen who killed one commuter and the driver. They abducted five others, two of whom managed to escape with injuries.

In a statement on Monday, the spokesman of the Ondo State Police Command, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omilana, said the assailants abandoned the victims in the forest.

She noted that policemen from the tactical squad led by the Area Commander of Owo, Olufemi Awoyele, had been combing the forest, which led to the abductors fleeing, leaving the victims behind at the Oyinbo/ Sanusi camp in the area.

Omisanya added that the victims are receiving treatment at the police medical facility in Owo, and would be handed over to their families after being debriefed.
