Williams, an Assistant Inspector General of Police, said modern policing has been identified as complex and more challenging with threats that require innovative and visionary personnel in tackling such emerging complex threats.
“It is important to reflect on the significance of the work that lies ahead. Policing in the 21st century is more challenging than ever before, with complex threats and evolving forms of crime requiring innovative strategies and visionary leadership,” he said.
“You will be exposed to modern policing strategies, hence, be prepared for the task ahead.”
The ACP emphasised that the role of a law enforcement officer is not just to enforce the law, but to serve and protect the communities, uphold justice, and maintain public trust, adding that the skills and knowledge acquired during this course will not only enhance their professional capabilities but also empower them to make a positive impact in the lives of those they serve.
The course intent is to cover various aspects of policing in a democratic society which is to accommodate vital ingredients such as intelligence policing, fundamental human rights, prevention and detection of crime as well as criminal investigations and prosecution.
